About the Author

Barbara Herberholz received her BFA and MA from the University of New Mexico and has been involved in teaching art at all levels. The National Art Education Association named her California’s Outstanding Elementary Art Educator and California’s Outstanding Art Educator. She is coauthor of Early Childhood Art and Artworks for Elementary Teachers, McGraw-Hill. She served as an education contributor for the elementary art texts Art in Action and also wrote two Art Enrichment Manuals that accompanied boxes of art reproductions. As the first editor of The Painted Monkey, California Art Education Association’s monthly newsletter, she gave the publication its name and served for six years. She is a contributing editor for Arts and Activities magazine.
